Your Silos
Why not the Hidden album?
Hidden isn’t the same as private.
The Hidden album that comes with iPhone is handy, but it was built to tidy your library, not to keep a secret.
Your passcode opens it
Anyone who knows your iPhone passcode can open the Hidden album. Silock has its own unlock, and any silo can have one more.
It’s still in Photos
Hidden photos stay in your library and sync to every device on your iCloud Photos. Silock keeps them out of Photos entirely.
One album for everything
Everything hidden lands in one place. Silock lets you keep things apart, in as many silos as you need.
Is the iPhone Hidden album safe? What it does and doesn’t protect
What’s inside
Everything a private vault should do.
And nothing it shouldn’t. No account, no ads, no analytics.
Silos
Keep things apart in silos you name and color. Blur a name so nobody nearby can read it.
Silo passwords
Give any silo a password of its own. Even someone who knows your Silock unlock can't open it.
Face ID
Open Silock with a glance, or turn it off and use your PIN, password or pattern.
Recovery phrase
12 words that get you back in if you forget your unlock. Only you ever see them.
iCloud backup
Backed up to your own iCloud, encrypted first. Your recovery phrase brings it back.
Private camera
Take photos straight into a silo. They never touch your camera roll.
Quick lock
Shake your iPhone or turn it face down and Silock locks instantly.
Erase Everything
Wipe every silo at once, or have Silock erase itself after too many wrong tries.
Documents
PDFs, scans and files, encrypted alongside your photos. No document limit on Free.
How it works
Set up in about a minute.
- 1
Choose your unlock
A PIN, a password or a pattern you draw, plus Face ID if you like. You get a 12-word recovery phrase to keep somewhere safe.
- 2
Make your silos
One for travel, one for family, one for documents. Give each a color, blur a name so people nearby can’t read it, or add a password of its own.
- 3
Add what matters
Bring in photos and videos from Photos, documents from Files, or take photos with Silock’s camera so they never reach your camera roll.
Security, in plain words
Locked on your iPhone. Unreadable everywhere else.
Every file is encrypted with AES-256 the moment you add it, and so are its name, date and thumbnail. The key that opens it is made from your unlock, which Silock never stores.
Read how Silock protects you- Encrypted before it’s saved. Nothing readable is ever written to your iPhone’s storage.
- Only your unlock opens it. Wrong guesses make you wait longer each time, and Silock can erase itself after too many.
- Backups stay sealed. iCloud only ever receives encrypted data.
- Nothing to leak. No account, no servers of ours, no copy of your keys.
Straight answers
What Silock can’t do.
Being clear about the limits is part of being trustworthy.
- If Silock is open on your unlocked iPhone, anyone holding it can see what’s on screen. Shake it or turn it face down and it locks at once.
- If you lose both your unlock and your recovery phrase, your files are gone. No one can recover them, including us.
- Face ID can be forced. Give a silo its own password if it needs protecting under pressure.
- A jailbroken or compromised iPhone weakens every app’s protections, Silock’s too.

Questions
Is Silock free?
Yes. Free has no time limit and holds 2 silos with 50 photos and 5 videos in all, plus documents. Silock Pro removes every limit: $19.99 once for Lifetime, or $7.99 a month.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email and no account. You set an unlock on your iPhone and that is all.
Can the Silock Team see my photos?
No. Everything is encrypted on your iPhone before it is saved, and we have no servers that receive your files or your keys. We could not see your photos even if we wanted to.
What if I forget my PIN, pattern or password?
During setup you get a 12-word recovery phrase. It is the only way back in, because Silock never stores your unlock and cannot reset it for you. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.
Does Silock back up to iCloud?
Yes, if you turn it on. Your silos are encrypted on your iPhone first, then stored in your own iCloud. Apple only receives encrypted data. Your recovery phrase brings everything back on a new iPhone.
Is Face ID safe to use?
Face ID opens Silock quickly, and you can turn it on or off at any time. Someone could hold your phone up to your face, so give any silo that needs more protection its own password. Face ID never opens those.
Does Silock show ads or track me?
No ads on any plan, no tracking, and no analytics code in the app. This website has none either.
Which iPhones does Silock work on?
Any iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
